Art Deco
One of 2018’s big trends was a resurgence in mid-century modernism and interior design enthusiasts have been looking for its replacement in 2019. That next big thing may just be a resurgence in Art Deco design, which has been on the fringes for some time and is hotly tipped to return.
This 1920s era design is all about opulence, glamour and style. It influenced everything from monumental structures like the Empire State Building to household objects like radios and vacuum cleaners. Art deco has a reverence for big, bold colours, geometric patterns and oversized pieces of furniture.
Eco-Friendly Furnishings
Also tipped for 2019, is the introduction of more eco-friendly and sustainable pieces of furniture. This will herald an increased use of re-purposed wood for desks, recycled textiles for sofas, cork and bamboo which work together to create a more natural and organic aesthetic.
Being eco-friendly doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style, there are now plenty of products that are both cool and environmentally conscious in equal measure.
Green-fingers
In conjunction with utilising recycled fabrics and materials to create a sustainable interior design, 2019 will also see a rise in the popularity of house plants. Think big and bold Chinese Money plants, umbrella trees and hanging Burrows Tail plants dotted all around the home.
Minimalism
Minimalism is a design style that rarely ever goes out of fashion. The clean lines, flat colours and use of glass in the design gives a home an instant feel of modernism and is extremely versatile.
A minimalist design can be achieved through the clever use of functionality and space in place of s cluttered or congested design. Glass really comes into its own here and can be paired with blocked neutral colours and plenty of metal furnishings.
