How to measure glass balustrade for stairs
If you’re opting to renovate your staircase with a glass balustrade then you’ll need to know how to accurately measure the area first. If you are unsure about how to go about it, then our team are on hand to provide guidance. However, if you do want to try for yourself, here are some simple steps that you can follow:
- The first measurement you should take is between the face of one newel post – to the face of the next one along, horizontally. At this stage, there is no need to account for any fixtures, so don’t leave gaps when measuring, this is something that can be factored in later on.
- Once this is done, simply take a measurement from the underside of the handrail and the top of the base rail – and now you have your length and width for your piece of balustrade glass.
- Next, measure between the face of the newel post to the centre of the mitre, which will provide a clear idea of how big the gap will be.
- Once again measure from the top of the base rail to the underside of the handrail. As we said, there is no need to account for any fixtures you will later implement, as this is something that can be looked at later.
